Maggie

You had a first thought
When I opened the door
To get me to feed you
And pet and adore.
If I moved to the couch
Engrossed in the news
You climbed on my knee
And sniffed at my shoes.
To the office I went
And you followed me there.
You lay at my feet
Then jumped on a chair.
If I was late in the morning
And you already ate
You’d come up to get me
And make me feel great.
 You were kind and forgiving
My favorite cat
You shared love and joy
Wherever you sat.
 I miss you, sweet Maggie
My fur-headed friend.
I’ll follow you now
To memory’s end.

What you lookin' at? I love this bed!
Laundry is my favorite!
Oh, just pet me!

Where's the laundry?

You can pick me up now.
You brought this tree just for me?
You KNOW you want to pet me!

About Maggie:

In 1993, my wife Debbie found Maggie at her doorstep during a snow storm and adopted her. Maggie saw Debbie through pain and joy for 14 years. When Debbie met me in 2003, Maggie and I became instant friends. For four years, the three of us were a family. Maggie was put to sleep on July 2, 2007 after suffering heart failure brought on by an incurable heart ailment. We will miss her always.
